EMILIANA RECEIVES THE ROBERT PARKER GREEN EMBLEM AND TAKES UP THE POSITION AS GLOBAL LEADER IN VITICULTURAL SUSTAINABILITY
Emiliana was distinguished with the Robert Parker Green Emblem, an important award that highlights the unswerving commitment of the winery to sustainable practices that go beyond conventional and positions it as a global leader in winemaking sustainability.
The Green Emblem not only recognizes wineries that have organic or biodynamic certifications, but it also highlights those that are true ambassadors of sustainability. It acknowledges their efforts to promote long-term environmental health, foster biodiversity and address social issues linked to wine production.
“The Green Emblem recognizes our dedication and belief that organic and biodynamic agriculture is key to achieve quality wines. We have no doubt that in the near future, the way of understanding agriculture and wines will be this, and we are proud that at Emiliana we are already well advanced. The list of wineries that have this recognition are few, and some are the best in the world, so this is not only an achievement for Emiliana, but also for Chile,” said Noelia Orts, Emiliana’s winemaker.
The Green Emblem is a rarely granted award, bestowed only after careful consideration by the reviewer. Once a winery receives this distinction, all of its wines may carry the Robert Parker Green Emblem symbol, making it easier for consumers to recognize wines of sustainable production. The creator of this distinction is noted wine critic Robert Parker, recognized worldwide for his extensive work in wine tasting and scoring, particularly through his media, The Wine Advocate.
On the other hand, Cristián Rodríguez, Emiliana’s General Manager, highlighted the recognition and how proud it made the staff at the winery, as it ratifies the path that Emiliana has been following for 25 years. “It acknowledges the tireless effort we have made regarding organic, biodynamic, and currently regenerative, but above all in the social aspect. It also recognizes a project at large scale, that is, a project of more than 1,000 hectares, which demonstrates that it is possible to produce wines in a better and more qualitative way without harming the environment and committed to helping and regenerating the ecosystem,” he added.
Viña Emiliana is celebrating the 25th anniversary of one of the most important innovations for the Chilean wine industry, -which took place in 1998- by turning 100% of its 1,000 hectares to organic agriculture. A decision that has made Emiliana the biggest organic winery in the world.
