Gê, Emiliana’s icon wine, chosen as the best wine of Chile

2 November 2021

Gê 2018, the biodynamic blend of Emiliana, has been chosen as Chile's No. 1 wine in the annual Top 100 Wines of Chile 2021, a list prepared by the renowned US wine critic James Suckling.

In his acknowledgment, Suckling highlights Chile’s growing interest in organic products and biodynamic viticulture.

Cristián Rodríguez, General Manager at Emiliana, stated that this recognition comes after 23 years of organic and biodynamic agriculture. “It is a prize for the effort and perseverance of believing that through this type of agriculture, we can achieve better quality grapes and, therefore, better wines. Many years ago, we decided to focus on the development of Gê as Emiliana’s best quality expression, and today we see how all this agricultural and winemaking work has paid off,” he added.

The critic noted Emiliana’s rise to first place and its consistent excellence as Gê 2017 was ranked fourth last year.

“Is a well-deserved recognition for Chile’s biodynamic wine scene. Emiliana has been the leading producer of organic and biodynamic wines in Chile and the world since 1998.”

Noelia Orts, Emiliana’s winemaker, celebrated the position achieved. “It shows the high level and consistency in the quality of this wine, so representative of the winery’s organic and biodynamic philosophy,” she said.

The winemaker also highlighted the special care received by the wine: “from pruning to bottling that is done in the same estate where it was born according to the biodynamic calendar.”

It is worth noting that a week ago, Suckling also chose Gê 2018 as one of the Top 100 Best Wines in the World, which places it among the best wines at national and international level.
